Microsoft Rumors Suggest White Xbox One, Disc-less Xbox One and an April Release for Singapore
According to rumors, Microsoft is planning on release two new variants of the Xbox One console later this year. In addition, the months of April and October will see the console being launched in more countries.
The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 has been on sale for some time now and while the Xbox One sold better in the U.S., it is the PlayStation 4 that is the worldwide best-seller. And while one may argue that it is because Sony decided to launch the PlayStation 4 in more markets, we cannot escape from the fact that the Xbox One did not get off to the best of starts (remember the always-requiring an online connection and DRM fiasco?) and that it is not only less powerful, but also more expensive that its rival.
To boost sales, rumors are suggesting that Microsoft will be releasing a white version of the Xbox One console later this year. However, it is not clear whether this is similar to the white console that was offered to members of the team that worked on the Xbox One.
Additionally, there are also rumors suggesting that Microsoft is working on a disc-less version of the console that will eschew the Blu-ray drive and instead come with a 1TB HDD. Presumably, this is to reduce costs of the console so that it can be priced similarly with the PlayStation 4. The Xbox One currently retails for about US$100 more than the PlayStation 4.
Finally, Microsoft will push for the Xbox One to be launched in more countries this year. April and October are the months to look forward to, and in April Microsoft will expand the availability of the console in 13 more countries, including Singapore - Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Russia, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Colombia, Chile, and Argentina.
October will see the console arriving in China, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Greece, Portugal, Slovakia, Turkey, Saudia Arabia, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Israel, India, Indonesia, and Egypt.
