A fan of Evangelion? Fast-food giant McDonald’s is teaming up with the anime series for a limited-edition collaboration featuring transforming mecha figures inspired by McDonald’s menu items.

The catch? It will only be available in Japan. As reported by Kotaku, the news first emerged on 17 December, when McDonald’s Japan tweeted a cryptic teaser image titled “Notice,” accompanied by copyright references to Project EVA and Studio Khara, the studio behind the Rebuild of Evangelion films.

The toys, part of the “McDonald’s Eva Miracle Robot” line, include three figures: the Big Mac Unit-00, World Famous Fries Unit-02, and the McShake Unit-01. Each figure transforms into a mech resembling the Evangelion Units from the anime series. Check out the commercial accompanying the announcement featuring scenes from Evangelion with new voice lines by the original cast above.

These limited-edition collectibles will be available exclusively in Japan through a lottery system via the McDonald’s app. Entries can be submitted from 19 December to 10 January, with winners able to purchase the mechas for 3,900 yen (S$~33)
