A lot of cool additions here!

BioWare and Electronic Arts have released a new trailer for Mass Effect Legendary Edition, a bundle that remasters the original Mass Effect trilogy with all DLCs and story campaigns intact. The game’s release date was also revealed: May 14, 2021. This isn’t just a simple paint job however, especially when it comes to the first game.

BioWare has put a lot of work into bringing the original Mass Effect up to date with the rest of the trilogy. Aside from the obvious visual improvcements, modernised combat HUD, reworked cameras and weapon balancing, the game also streamlines the experience of jumping from one game to the next. For example, the iconic default female Shepard’s look from Mass Effect 3 is now available in the first two games, letting you play as her across the trilogy. The character creator has been expanded with more options, allowing you to keep your Shepard looking the same in every game.

The Mako transport tank has a bad reputation due to its janky controls, but seeing as driving the thing is such a huge part of the franchise, the controls have been overhauled for a smoother experience overall. Loading times have also been cut down too, and you have the option of skipping the first game’s long elevator rides. More information on the remastered trilogy is available via Gamesradar.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC - as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X using backward compatibility. If you’ve ever wanted to dive into the Mass Effect franchise or simply want to revisit the squad, there hasn’t been a better time to do so!
