Halo Infinite's revised release is set for Fall 2021
Uh...good things come to those who wait, right?

Well, so much for being a launch title.
Now it seems like Halo Infinite is going to be almost a full year late to the next-gen console party. But I guess it's still a whole lot better than getting a crappy shooter on time.
According to a blog post published earlier today by developer 343 Industries, the much-awaited first-person shooter will be dropping somewhere in Fall 2021, after a lukewarm reception at the Xbox Games Showcase in July essentially forced it back into development. Primarily, fans weren't too happy about the game's subpar aesthetics and delivery, all of which seemed to be a far cry from what the Xbox Series X was supposed to be capable of.
As such, the developers had no choice but to continue polishing the game as best they could, but having to push back its release date as a result didn't just affect the fans. The loss of Halo Infinite as a launch title was also a huge blow to Microsoft's next-gen console push, and it wouldn't be surprising if this caused the balance to tilt a little more in Sony's favour.
All things considered, it's good to finally have an update. The post, which was written by veteran developer Joseph Staten doesn't just provide an estimate for the game's release, but also explains some of the things the team has been up to since August.
Briefly, Staten notes that the team has been hard at work identifying and improving on what the community dislikes, but as the saying goes, "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". Accordingly, he also mentions that they'll be taking some time to properly recharge their creative batteries over the holiday season, which should allow them to meet the new deadline without a hitch. On top of that, he also teases us a little by saying that the release "is just the beginning of the adventure".
Well, that's certainly encouraging to hear, even if we are still sulking about the wait. Nevertheless, I'd like to think that all this "stew" needs a little more time to simmer, and that Master Chief's newest adventure will really knock players out of the park when it finally drops in the latter half of 2021.
