Funko Pops, yup that company that gave the world licensed vinyl figurines and bobbleheads, has entered the video game industry.
Come this September, Funko Pop will release its first video game titled Funko Fusion in collaboration with 10.10 Games. The latter is a new game development studio created by veterans from TT Games, who have had experience with making games filled with various intellectual properties – the developers were also responsible for the LEGO games such as LEGO Marvel, LEGO Batman and LEGO Dimensions.

That experience will help, as the game’s trailer shows Funko Fusion replete with familiar faces from franchises like Jurassic Park, Battlestar Galactica, Back to the Future, and The Mummy. It also unexpectedly includes characters from films like Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead. It’s going to be interesting to see how the game gives equal attention (if it will, at all) to each IP here.
The gameplay seems to stick to a conventional co-op format that is not too different from LEGO games by TT Games. However, the trailer also reveals a surprisingly dark side, with scenes of Funko Pops in rather grim scenarios, even if the graphics are still somewhat cartoon-like.
Funko Fusion will be available on September 13, 2024 on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
