A Dragon Quest III HD-2D remake is launching on 14 November on consoles and PC

Originally showcased during Nintendo Direct, Square Enix has now revealed the remake of DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D will launch on 14 November.
The game will be available for play on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store. For those planning to play via Steam, it will release a day later on 15 November.

The remake of the RPG aims to breathe new life into the title with HD-2D graphics, offering fans a fresh perspective in the world of DRAGON QUEST III. The remake will feature several new scenes focusing on Ortega, the protagonist’s father, providing players with deeper insights into his character and quest.
Other key features of the remake include:
- 1. Enhanced storyline with new formidable foes
- 2. A world map modeled after our own, with diverse cultures and traditions
- 3. New puzzles and dungeons to explore
- 4. Voice acting in both Japanese and English
- 5. Text support for multiple languages including Japanese, English, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), and Korean
The game’s development team consists of industry veterans which includes General Director Yuji Hori, Character Designer the late Akira Toriyama, and the late Music Composer, Koichi Sugiyama. The remake is being developed by ARTDINK corporation in collaboration with the SQEX team Asano
In addition to DRAGON QUEST III, Square Enix has also announced DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake, scheduled for release in 2025 on the same platforms.
If you’re keen on getting the game for the Nintendo Switch, Square Enix has said that pre-order dates for the Nintendo Switch version and information regarding physical editions will be announced at a later date.
