Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake and Dragon Quest 12 have been announced
Four other Dragon Quest games were also announced for the franchise's 35th anniversary.

Dragon Quest fans have a lot of fun stuff to look forward to!
Square Enix just held a livestream celebrating the Dragon Quest franchise’s 25th anniversary, and boy it was juicy. We got confirmation of the next mainline Dragon Quest game, titled Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate, along with five other upcoming Dragon Quest games.
Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate was revealed with a rather enigmatic trailer, giving us just a peek at the game’s logo and title. However, series creator Yuji Horii also let slip that some changes are coming to the series’ traditional turn-based battle system. Square Enix is shooting for a simultaneous worldwide release for this one, so those of us not in Japan won’t have to wait around to play it.
As if that wasn’t enough, we got a sneak peek at five more Dragon Quest titles in development. The most exciting of these is a remake of Dragon Quest III, in the same HD-2D visual vein of the RPG Octopath Traveler. Players control a party of 2D characters, but 3D environments and a tilt-shifted perspective bring a whole new flourish to the 1988 game - yes, it really has been that long. The Dragon Quest III remake is also shooting for a simultaneous worldwide release on home consoles.
If you’re already missing your favourites from Dragon Quest XI, don’t worry. Dragon Quest Treasures is a treasure-hunting RPG starring characters from Dragon Quest XI, following Erik and Mia in their childhood days.
The Japan-only MMO Dragon Quest X is also getting an expansion, titled the Version 6 expansion, bringing more content to the game.
If you’re not into MMOs, Square Enix also announced Dragon Quest X Offline, a top-down version of the game that doesn’t need an internet connection to be played. It also has different visuals, and aims for a 2022 release.
Lastly, Dragon Quest Keshi Keshi was also announced. This is a mobile puzzle game set for a 2021 release in Japan.
