Making its debut at CES, Creative and gaming chair maker TGIF have teamed up, combining their respective expertise in audio and design, to unveil the T0 Aurena Gaming Chair Speaker System.
The T0 Aurena contains Creative’s SoundBlaster CMSS3D+, which, as the name suggests, originates from Creative’s surround sound tech, CMSS (or Creative Multi-Speaker Surround). In fact, while CMSS 3D is quite an older name in Creative's lineup, CMSS3D+, presumably a follow-up of some kind to CMSS 3D, makes its first recorded appearance here.
Indeed, Creative is pitching the surround sound and immersion applications of the T0 Aurena, extending from footsteps in an FPS game to movie soundtracks. TGIF, on its part, wanted to “push the boundaries of what a gaming chair can offer”, according to its founders Sophia Niu and Leo Lian. The companies did not specify the technical details such as connectivity in their main announecment, but the T0 Aurena was showcased at CES.
While gaming chairs with speakers aren’t a new product category, it’s a good place for a collaboration between two already-existing companies with years long experience in their fields; Creative especially, given their long history with audio products.
Pricing and availability
Creative says that the T0 Aurena Gaming Chair Speaker System is slated to be released in the second quarter of this year. It did not give a price, but considering that the TGIF T0 launched on Kickstarter for US$399, with the inclusion of new speaker tech, it's likely to cost more.
