Gotta wear ‘em all.
Converse has announced a new collection of clothing and sneakers to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Pokemon. The new range of apparel sports quite a few monsters from the Kanto region, from starter Pokemon like Bulbasaur and Squirtle to other fan favourites like Meowth and Jigglypuff.
If you prefer later Pokemon generations, I’m sorry to say this range only covers the original Kanto Pokemon. That doesn’t make them any less neat though - one set of black-and-white sneakers is riddled with patterns of the three starter Pokemon, Meowth and Pikachu all together. The ‘All Star’ patch has even been redressed to look like a Pokeball.

A few other sneaker designs are available, too. One bright yellow set highlights the franchise mascot Pikachu, while another in pink calls back to the ever-mischievous Jigglypuff.

Converse also has a Pokemon 25th Celebration Hoodie, coloured black and yellow after Pikachu. There’s also a Jigglypuff top, alongside other apparel like sweaters, T-shirts and hats. This collection hits Converse’s website and American retailers on 10 December, 2021. Sadly, Converse hasn’t confirmed its availability in Singapore yet.
For now, we’ll just have to make do with the Diamond and Pearl remakes.
