Watch out, Mecha, MASH, and the LandingPad. There is a new keyboard shop in town…quite literally. The Laboratory by Reformd Group is preparing to unveil its first store at Cathay Cineleisure on 2 August.
If Reformd rings a bell, it's because they are the very same group that also manages Reformd Personal Training as well as the Anytime Fitness and BFT franchises.

Their latest venture into the tech retail space sees them opening a 2,600-square-foot space that is set to become a heaven for keyboard enthusiasts and beginners alike. According to the press release shared with us, the store will be offering a "wide range of components from brands such as Akko, Gateron, Keychron, Monsgeek, Nuphy, and Wooting".
Located on the second floor of Cineleisure, the store's layout is centred around three key stations, each dedicated to an important aspect of keyboard building. The first station allows customers to choose their preferred base, while the second focuses on switch selection. At the third station, customers can then explore a wide array of keycaps to personalise their creations. A final assembly and testing area ensures that each keyboard leaves the store in perfect condition.
In addition to its building and customisation services, The Laboratory also houses an exclusive collection of rare, one-of-a-kind keyboards. These are only for display, and are not for sale unfortunately.
If you’re keen on getting a building your very first keyboard (there's really no feeling like typing on a keyboard that you built on your own), The Laboratory could be the place to start with since there will be professionals guiding and helping you throughout the process. You'll also get the chance to test different switches, feel the texture of keycaps, and experiment with various combinations to get a feel of what suits you best.
