World of Warcraft’s Classic 20th anniversary edition realms are now live, and they offer players the opportunity to relive the experience of WoW Classic with new features and a fresh start.

The Anniversary Edition realms are available in three modes: Normal Player vs. Environment (PvE), Player vs. Player (PvP), and Hardcore. Players can create new characters and progress through the content phases of WoW Classic over several months. These realms feature fresh economies and include changes that were introduced after the launch of WoW Classic in 2019.

Besides the various modes for playing the game, the anniversary edition also brings quality-of-life updates, such as the Chronoboon Displacer for saving world buffs, an updated PvP Honor Ranking system, and a Looking for Group (LFG) tool for easier party formation. A Services chat channel has also been added for players to advertise services like portals, summons, and tribute buffs. The Hardcore realms will allow players to create “Self-Found” characters, limiting interactions like trading and using the auction house.

For those looking to battle, the Molten Core and Onyxia raids will open on 12 December for both Normal PvE and PvP realms. Non-hardcore realms will eventually progress to Burning Crusade Classic, while Hardcore realms will remain in the Classic Era content. To top it all off, blizzard has also announced that Game Masters will be available in the new realms to assist players and celebrate the launch.

How do I access WoW Anniversary Edition?

Players can access the Anniversary Edition realms by launching World of Warcraft Classic, selecting the Change Realm option, and choosing their preferred playstyle. Players should take note that while the ability to transfer characters between realms of different rulesets isn’t available for PvE and PvP realms, hardcore characters can transfer to non-Hardcore Normal PvE Anniversary realms.
