Sadly, we'll have to wait till 2023 for this one.

As one of the Four Great Classics of Chinese literature, to say that Journey to the West is merely “well-known” might actually classify as an insult. After all, there’s hardly anyone out there who hasn’t come across at least one iteration of the tale’s most iconic character – the mischievous yet insanely capable Monkey King, Sun Wukong.
In fact, you don’t even need to look far to find proof. All you have to do is look at the world’s top three MOBA games – League of Legends, Dota 2 and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. Every single one of them features their own adaptation of the character, to say nothing of those in other games and genres.
Since we’re on the topic, Chinese developer Game Science Studio has just rolled out another impressive gameplay trailer for their upcoming Soulslike title Black Myth: Wukong, specifically one that shows off how the game looks on Unreal Engine 5. Check it out below!

Meanwhile, the associated post published on the NVIDIA blog also drops us an interesting tidbit. Apparently, this trailer presents us with the first glance at a UE5 title that is compatible with the green team’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology. For those who need a refresher, DLSS basically provides AI-powered graphics upscaling, which allows for greatly enhanced performance and image quality.
In other words, your DLSS-compatible games can look absolutely bonkers with minimal frame rate costs.
As for Black Myth itself, Game Science Studio first announced this brutal take on the normally cheerful Monkey King back in August 2020, taking several conceptual pages out of From Software’s book. As such, we can expect it to be equally unforgiving to newbies and veterans alike, though that certainly doesn’t come as a surprise.
In terms of gameplay, the game will pit players (as the Monkey King) against a wide variety of opponents, many of which are inspired by or even adapted from the iconic story. For example, during the Chinese New Year celebrations earlier this year, the developers dropped a teaser trailer showcasing the game’s iteration of the Ox Demon King, which is widely known as one of the Monkey King’s greatest rivals. As for when Black Myth is expected to arrive, we don’t have a concrete date for it yet - Game Science Studio has so far announced that the game will release for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S sometime in 2023.
