Bandai Namco's excellent Ace Combat 7 is coming to the Nintendo Switch this July
It was originally launched across the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in 2019.
Bandai Namco has confirmed that its critically acclaimed Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is slated for a Nintendo Switch debut this July. This marks a significant milestone for the franchise as it’s the first Ace Combat game to launch onto the Switch platform.
Originally launched in 2019 across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, Ace Combat 7 has garnered a strong following. The forthcoming Switch edition, labelled as the Deluxe Edition, isn't just a straight port. Bandai Namco has promised an enriched experience by bundling a variety of previously launched DLCs – mostly those that were released in the Season Pass from the console platforms.

The Deluxe Edition is quite a package. It includes the original Ace Combat 7 game along with a trio of aircraft sets: ADF-11F Raven, ADF-01 FALKEN, and ADFX-01 Morgan. Also thrown into the mix are three additional missions Unexpected Visitor, Anchorhead Raid, and Ten Million Relief Plan. For hardcore fans, the Music Player mode and two playable aircraft – the F-104C Avril and the F-4E Phantom II – add to the allure. Rounding off this edition are a collection of three skins and eight emblems from the series’ past titles.

However, it's noteworthy that this Switch version doesn't boast the entire DLC catalogue found in its PS4, Xbox One, and PC counterparts. Bandai Namco has hinted at future DLC releases for the Switch, albeit as paid content.
Ace Combat 7 has enjoyed critical success, with commendable Metacritic scores for its PS4 (80) and Xbox One (79) versions. Its arrival on the Switch is a first, but it's not the series' first dance with Nintendo. Previously, Ace Combat made its Nintendo debut with Ace Combat Advance for the GBA in 2005 and 2011’s 3DS remake of Ace Combat 2, known as Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy. The latter even received a 2015 update enhancing amiibo figure support.
