ASUS unleashes their newest notebooks; the ZenBook UX501 and the ROG G501
If you're looking for new notebooks with 4K displays, ASUS has just unveiled two options you might be interested in. Hop on in for more details about the new machines.
ASUS's ROG brand is one of the more well known names in gaming notebooks.
There are very few notebook manufacturers that try to do business on both sides of the fence, making dedicated systems for either work or play. While the number was a tad higher in the past, it has gradually dwindled to just a few now.
ASUS is one of those left and looks to remain in that position for the foreseeable future too, as they've just released their newest line-up of notebooks meant for both work and play. The ZenBook UX501 is an ultraportable notebook while the ROG G501 is a gaming rig.
First of is their new ZenBook, the ASUS ZenBook UX501.
The latest in the ZenBook family, the UX501 boasts improved specs over its predecessors.Its dimensions are 383 x 255 x 20.6 ~ mm which means notebook is thin enough to be carried around. Made up of aluminium, the notebook also has brushed metal surfaces and diamond-cut chamfers to add to its distinct look.
The new ZenBook UX501 is 15.6 inch notebook with an options for either a 4K or Full HD IPS display, features an Intel Core i7-4720HQ (2.6GHz, 6MB cache) processor, with 16GB or 8GB RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M (2GB VRAM) powering it. The machine also comes with PCIe x4 interfaces for SSD storage of up to 512GB, a Thunderbolt port and a massive 96Wh battery, which can last for at least six hours of continued usage. Next up is the newest entry in the ROG line of gaming laptops, the ASUS ROG G501.
The ASUS ROG G501 is one of the thinnest gaming notebooks in the world, measuring only 383 x 255 x 20.6 mm. Like the ZenBook UX501 the ROG G501 also features an aluminium chassis, with a backlit keyboard. The machine weighs only 2.06kg. From what we can see from the image ASUS has provided, the ROG G501 uses a keyboard similar to the one found in the ASUS ROG G751 machines, which we really loved. It also has ASUS' own Hyper Cool tech inside, which is a specialized cooling system that aims to provide great cooling with minimal fan noise.
The ROG G501 also similar hardware to the ZenBook UX501. It has a 15.6-inch 4K IPS display, with an Intel Core i7-4720HQ (2.6GHz, 6MB cache) processor, variable RAM, a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M (2GB VRAM), various storage options include support for PCIe x4 SSDs with up to 512GB storage and the 96Wh battery that is also in the ZenBook UX501.

Both machines are already on stores shelves right now. The ASUS ZenBook UX501 is available at $2,198 onwards while the ASUS ROG G501 is $2,698 onwards.
