Nintendo Switch 2 has set yet another sales record, selling nearly 6 million units within the first month of its availability.

According to the company’s latest financial results, 5.82 million units were sold by the end of June - a remarkable feat considering the Switch 2 only launched globally on 5 June. More impressive is the fact that this is more than double the first-month sales of the original Switch.

With sell-through exceeding 6 million units globally in the first 7 weeks of its launch, Nintendo says demand is outstripping supply in many countries, and it is ramping up production to deliver as many units as possible.

The Switch 2’s popularity is notable given its higher launch retail price at S$719 compared to the first-generation model’s S$659 retail price tag. It sold over 3.5 million units within the first four days of launch, which is the “highest global sales level” for any Nintendo hardware in the same period.

However, with the Trump administration’s 20% tariffs on imports from Vietnam taking effect from 1 August, it remains to be seen if Nintendo will raise prices. And if it does, will it dampen demand? Vietnam is the key manufacturing hub for the gaming console.
