The Game Awards 2021: Here's the full list of winners!
Guess Game Director Josef Fares really did put his money where his mouth was.

First off, a hearty congratulations to It Takes Two and developer Hazelight Studios for bagging 2021's Game of the Year! And of course, that means that game director Josef Fares has indeed earned the right to keep the one thousand dollars he offered to anyone who got tired of the game when it was first released.
Speaking of which, 2021 was truly a year filled to the brim with surprises - some of them were amusing and certainly appreciated, while some were not. However, we're not going to rain on everybody's parade with the festive season just around the corner, so let's talk a little bit about this year's batch of winners.
Frankly, we didn't quite expect It Takes Two to clinch the top spot for itself, though we definitely agree that the game is an excellent one through and through. After all, it did also win the awards for Best Family Game and Best Multiplayer Game, and those were pretty much shoe-ins. On an extremely related note, I think we can also agree on the fact that this year's GOTY contest was certainly one of, if not the closest that we've had in a while, simply because the other contenders, such as Resident Evil: Village and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart were equally fantastic in their own right.
However, that isn't to say we didn't see any of these wins coming. Arkane Lyon's Deathloop certainly (and unsurprisingly) walked away with the awards for Best Game Direction and Best Art Direction, while Maggie Robertson took home Best Performance for her stunning portrayal of the towering Lady Dimitrescu. Anyway, we could go on and on, but then we'd be here all day, so that's enough chatter from us. Feel free to check out the rest of the winners below, and once again, we'd like to wish all The Game Awards nominees a job well done!
