Check out the highlights from Day 1 of EFA!
The inaugural Esports Festival Asia 2019 (EFA 2019) kicked off alongside Comex 2019 yesterday. Besides providing gamers with great gaming deals, EFA 2019 aims to bring esports to the masses. The result of a collaboration between Sphere Exhibits and Game3.Asia, EFA will host multiple tournaments for many popular games, including League of Legends, CS:GO, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and Dota Underlords.
Starting off the day with a bang, Huawei unveiled its latest Huawei Nova 5T, showing everyone in attendance exactly what this smartphone is capable of. And yes, the Nova 5T will run Android and come with Google's full suite of apps!
Visitors to EFA 2019 will get the chance to give the Nova 5T a whirl and experience the edge-to-edge gaming experience for themselves.
While the competitors for EFA's various leagues get themselves ready for gruelling competition over the next few days, Fortnite dominated the stage on Day 1 with a Fortnite dance challenge. The #TeamKnightley event drew plenty of players under 16, while the dance challenge saw people emulating the moves of Fortnite emotes like Pumpernickel and Take the L.
The dance competition wasn't the only thing that drew the crowds. Visitors were given a chance to go on stage for the Fortnite Zone Wars. Zone Wars takes advantage of Fortnite's creative mode and places 16 players into a smaller play area where the storm is closing in quickly. Players have to move and build fast while avoiding the storm, leading to some intense fight sequences.
EFA wasn't just about Fortnite though. A new mobile Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA), Arena of Glory was unveiled to the public. While the game isn't yet available in Singapore, fans of the MOBA genre can get a taste of the game at EFA.
The Female Esports League (FSL) gets a headstart on the other competitions with their FSL Elite Arena of Valor, a mobile MOBA, event. It pits the top Southeast Asia AoV teams against one another, drawing in teams from Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Things are sure to get heated with the grand finals on Day 2 as well as the FSL Elite League of Legends event on Day 3 and 4.
You can check out the FSL live-streams over here.
Of course, a gaming event is never really complete without cosplay. We even spotted folks dressed up as the Recon Specialist and Commando from Fortnite!
We'll be having daily roundups of the action at EFA, so stay tuned for the latest updates.
