Gigabyte is the next big name to announce their new motherboards with updated Intel B860 and AMD B850/B840 chipsets. Though it encompasses multiple Gigabyte product lines including its Gigabyte Gaming and Eagle lineups, the company was eager to push the new B860 and B850/B840 boards through its Aorus Pro and Aorus Elite lines.
Primarily, this consists of what Gigabyte calls 'D5 Bionic Corsa', which is an AI Suite that boosts the speed of DDR5 memory to up over 9000MT/s on Intel B860 boards and 8600MT/s on AMD boards, and which first made its appearance on AORUS Z890 motherboards. Other AI features include an 'AI-Driven PCB Design' and HyperTune BIOS.

The memory speeds that Gigabyte is advertising, compared to other boards of their class, is notably higher than usual; the highest speed it supports according to the product pages is 9200MT/s with overclocked memory, though Gigabyte mentioned that the Aorus boards are capable of boosting it up to 9466MT/s.
Gigabyte also mentioned USB4 support across its entire B860 Aorus lineup. True to their word, every board on the list above has one USB4 Type-C port on the back panel, though the B860I Aorus Pro does it through Thunderbolt 4, the only board on the list to support it.

Like Gigabyte's X870 boards, the Gigabyte B850 boards support X3D Turbo Mode, specifically meant for AMD X3D CPUs and through which Gigabyte claims to unlock 18% more performance from your Ryzen processor.
Gigabyte's AI-driven memory tech also makes an appearance here. While not at the speed of the Intel chipset boards, and while the rated boost is less consistent across all the AMD boards here, Gigabyte is able to reach 8600MT/s on the highest end B850 AI TOP.
Speaking of which, although not an Aorus product, Gigabyte is putting the B850 AI TOP as the choice of motherboards for gaming and home AI training. Originally announced at Computex 2024, Gigabyte's AI TOP initiative began with the workstation-oriented TRX50 AI TOP and trickled down to its Z890 and X870 boards, but is making its way towards the mainstream with this new B850 offering. It's also worth noting that the B850 AI TOP comes with not one but two 10G LAN ports.
The AI TOP branding relates to the board's compatibility with Gigabyte's AI TOP Utility 2.0, which is a local AI training programme running entirely on your device aimed at making the process of training your AI with datasets easier (particularly the use of LLM for text and image generation). The AI TOP motherboards also support memory offloading to system DRAM and the SSD for greater training capacity (though take note of system requirements, as Gigabyte recommends different capacity SSDs and varying ranges of DDR5 memory for different use cases).
Local pricing and availability are not out yet for these new motherboards, but we'll let you know when they are.
