Did these games deserve their wins?

There you have it! These are the best of the best of videogames in 2019. Of course, these aren’t the only only annual game awards by a long shot - IGN for example, recently named Control as their game of the year. However, The Game Awards hosted by Geoff Keighley continue to be the biggest and most prestigious annual game awards show.

Of course, not everyone will be happy with the winners - I certainly would have made a different call in a couple categories, but that debate is all part of the fun. Personally, I wouldn’t have picked Sekiro as game of the year - that would go to Resident Evil 2 (which I thought was perfect in every way). However, this was a pretty competitive year, with multiple objectively great games in their own genres - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate being such a fantastic fighting game, for example.

They may not be our picks - but it all goes to show that gamers are presented with an embarrassment of riches year after year. There are so many great games to play - how are we supposed to agree on which specific one is the best of all?
