Covid-19 has forced everyone all over the world stay safe, stay at home and practice social distancing. It’s a pandemic that doesn’t seem to be letting up any time soon, so thank goodness April is giving us lots of reasons to stay at home and play games.
This is a massive month! From much-hyped remakes like Resident Evil 3 and Final Fantasy 7 to multiplayer games like Predator: Hunting Grounds, this is going to be a really fun month to play games in. A really tough one on the ol’ wallet, too. Here’s a list of all the games you should look out for in April:
Resident Evil 3 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One) - April 3

Personally, this is the game I’m most excited for this month. You play as Jill Valentine, a S.T.A.R.S. officer in post-apocalyptic Raccoon City, right before the adventures of Claire and Leon in the previous game. Unfortunately, Jill doesn't just have zombies to deal with in this broken city. Hot on her trail is Nemesis, a Frankenstein-like monster wielding rocket launchers and flamethrowers. His goal? Kill all remaining members of S.T.A.R.S..
I played through the demo myself and adored it. Read all about it here!
Final Fantasy 7 Remake (PlayStation 4) - April 10

It’s time to take the fight to Shinra. Again. Cloud Strife and his eco-terrorist AVALANCHE cohorts are on a one-time mission to stop Shinra from destroying the planet, but don’t realise just what they’ve gotten themselves into. This remake adds an entirely new combat system and some truly gorgeous graphics to the classic RPG. We were invited by Square Enix and Sony Interactive Entertainment Singapore to play a chunk of the game in March, and we absolutely loved it!
Predator: Hunting Grounds (PlayStation 4) - April 24

I mean, who hasn’t wanted to play as the Predator at some point? This is a multiplayer game that pits the Predator against a four-man squad of soldiers. Each character comes with their own weapons and abilities to combat the Predator, who is obviously the strongest alien around. This comes from the creators of Friday the 13th: the Game!
Trials of Mana (PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch) - April 24

Hunting down aliens not your thing? You might prefer this remake of another classic JRPG. The fantasy game follows three heroes trying to claim the Mana Sword of legend, while trying to prevent a dark force from destroying the world. High stakes! A demo is out for the game right now, check it out if you’d like.
Gears Tactics (PC) - April 28

The next installment in Xbox’s Gears franchise is changing things up quite a bit. Gears Tactics is a turn-based tactical squad game much like the XCOM games. The story is set before the first Gears of War, making this a prequel. A squad of soldiers face off against a Locust leader - but their success depends on your tactical skill.
Moving Out (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch) - April 28

Stuck at home with your spouse and/or family? Why not take on a good couch co-op game together? The closest I can describe Moving Out is ‘Overcooked with furniture’. Your task: move out of your place at all costs! Throw sofas out of windows! Carry beds over rows of crocodiles! Bust ghosts! This is the chaos you need in your new life inside to forget about all the chaos happening outside.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch) - April 30

Though it hasn’t been revealed yet, the schedule Fortnite seasons operate in points to another one coming on April 30. New seasons are always a great jumping-on point for players old and new, and due to how newcomer-friendly this game is - why not see what all the fuss is about while you’re at home? Get your friends together and do some drops!
Forget your woes and play some videogames

Though this has been quite an extensive list of new games, there’s plenty more to catch up on if you’d like. Personally, I’d highly recommend Doom Eternal - it’s a phenomenal first-person shooter. You could also try out Dreams, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, or Granblue Fantasy: Versus!
