Facebook Sent Names to Advertisers

Facebook's been facing a wall of controversy lately over its privacy issues, and the latest news from the Wall Street Journal doesn't help. According to the WSJ, Facebook, along with MySpace and other social networking sites, had been sending data to companies that could be used to identify user names and profiles, despite promises from the site to the contrary.

The practice was first discovered by researchers at AT&T Labs and Worcester Polytechnic Institute last August, but it seems that the issue remained for nine months after until the WSJ started to ask questions. Since then, Facebook and MySpace have moved to make changes.
