Cheaper NVIDIA DX11 Cards On the Way

According to sources close to NVIDIA, the company has planned to roll out more affordable versions of their Fermi-based card later this year. The all-new GeForce GTX 480 and GTX 470, which are set to be launched in the following days are premium high-end offerings.

The Tech Report - Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang may have appeared to cast doubt over the timely release of GF100 derivatives last month, but according to a report by Fudzilla, cheaper DirectX 11-capable GeForces are on the way nonetheless. In fact, the site has received word that the first GF100 derivatives may be out as early as this summer.

June seems to be the targeted timeline, but given how the GeForce GTX 480 and GTX 470 was delayed, we wouldn't be betting on it. Nevertheless, it's good to know that NVIDIA are finally offering brand new mainstream cards as opposed to rehashing their old cards like they always do.
