Slides that contain the details of Intel's next generation Atom SoC processors have been leaked. The new 22nm Atom processors are called Valleyview-T and features four cores with no support for hyperthreading.

Intel has shipped its 60-core Xeon Phi coprocessor to selected customers. First unveiled in June this year, the coprocessor comes in the form of a PCIe expansion card and operates independently of the host operating system, courtesy of its own Linux operating system that manages each x86 core.

Intel is working on a 48-core processor for smartphones and tablets. The company's focus on this project is to find new ways to manage and use multiple cores in mobile devices. According to the project researchers, this massive multi-core CPU could be ready in five to ten years.

Intel is rumored to be working on the next generation of Atom processors that are targeted at powering micro servers. Dubbed Avoton, this upcoming system-on-a-chip (SoC) will be based on 22nm Silvermont architecture and feature up to eight cores that share 4MB of L2 cache (1MB per core).

Intel has unveiled its new Atom-processor based platform for network-attached storage (NAS) solutions. Targeted at small businesses and home offices, these Intel Atom D2500 and 2500-based NAS devices are currently launched by companies such as ASUStor, QNAP and Thecus.

Intel has shared details about their next generation Atom processor. The company said there are at least nine manufacturers who will be releasing their devices built around a dual-core, 1.8GHz Atom Z2760 CPU that is very similar to the Medfield chip used in smartphones.

The local office of Intel organized a media update this morning to keep us abreast of the company's technology development and innovation, with special attention paid to Ultrabooks powered by its third generation Intel Core processors.
Intel is actively developing a palm vein reading technology that it hopes will replace the need for passwords in the future. This technology was recently demonstrated at IDF 2012 by Intel director of security research, Mr. Sridhar Iyengar.
