Samsung has expanded its SSD line-up with the 850 EVO M.2 and 850 EVO mSATA SSDs. The new drives are targeted at ultra-slim laptops and PCs and will feature the same 32-layer 3D TLC V-NAND as the original 2.5-inch 850 EVO SSDs. Despite the new interfaces, they are still SATA-based drives and will deliver similar performance to the Samsung 850 EVO.

Intel is rumored to be working on new SSD specifications for ultrabook applications. The new set of specifications is allegedly named Next Generation Form Factor (NGFF) and Intel aims to replace the existing mSATA SSD specifications due to its storage capacity limitations.
