Fujifilm and Panasonic have announced the joint development of a brand new organic CMOS image sensor with expanded dynamic range and increased sensitivity. The companies will promote the application of this new sensor to a range of products including security cameras, mobile devices and digital cameras.
Leica has officially announced the X Vario, a compact camera with a 16.1MP APS-C sensor and 18-46mm (28-70mm in 35mm equivalent) f/3.5-6.4 lens. The camera comes with a 920k dot 3" LCD, and an optional electronic viewfinder is available. Pricing is, as always with Leica, an eye-watering US$2850.

Ricoh has announced the Ricoh GR premium compact camera. In the vein of the Fujifilm X100S, Sony RX1 and Nikon Coolpix A, the Ricoh GR is a large-sensor, fixed-lens compact camera. It features a 16.2MP APS-C sized CMOS sensor with a 18.3mm (28mm in 35mm equivalent) f/2.8 lens.
