Apple has filed a patent in its Made-For-iPhone/iPad/iPod (MFi) program for headphones that can connect to iOS devices using a lightning connector, rather than the standard 3.5mm headphone jack. Support for existing iOS devices will also be rolled out in a future software update.

Razer has launched a new gaming case for Apple iPhone 5/5s with a slide out gamepad featuring AXBY pressure-sensitive buttons, a D-pad, and shoulder bumpers. The Razer Junglecat case also comes with a downloadable iOS app that lets users remap and customize all of its buttons.

Apple unveiled its next generation mobile operating system, iOS 8 at WWDC 2014 today. One of the key themes for iOS 8 is the third party support for widgets, keyboards and Touch ID. In addition, there are other new features that bridge the gap between iOS and other competing platforms.
