According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple has told manufacturers it will reduce orders for the iPhone 5C in the final three months of the year, while increasing production of the iPhone 5S.

Apple has hired Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts as its new SVP of Retail and Online Stores. Ahrendts became Burberry's CEO in July 2006, and has held various senior positions in the fashion industry, and will transition to her new role in spring of 2014.
According to technology news website All Things D, Apple will be announcing iPad updates during an invitation-only event on 22nd October. (Update: Apple just sent out invites for an event on 22 October.)

In addition to their iPad buyback program, Microsoft will now also offer customers US$200 for their iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 at select retail stores in the U.S. and Canada.

Apple has pulled a stealth refresh of its iMac line, bringing faster processors, graphics, storage and Wi-Fi to the new desktops. They are available for order now on Apple's website, and come ahead of the release of OS X Mavericks, which is rumored to launch next month alongside this year's new iPads.

The die shot of the new Apple A7 processor has been revealed. The 64-bit processor is manufactured by Samsung and has a die size of 102 mm squared, with roughly 1 billion transistors.
The biometrics hacking team at Chaos Computer Club has successfully bypassed the biometric security of Apple's iPhone 5S' fingerprint scanner using a high-res photo of a fingerprint of the phone user taken from a glass surface and a latex mix.

Microsoft is currently working on its own personal assistant, codenamed Cortana, which was originally an artificial intelligent character from Microsoft's Halo series. Just like the character from the game, Cortana is built to learn and adapt to Windows Phone users.
