Apple is planning to construct a large-scale solar panel farm to power its data center in the city of Reno, Nevada, United States. Surplus power from the solar farm will eventually be used to meet the energy requirements of the surrounding community.
In another example of thinking outside the box, Apple has hired Paul Deneve, the former CEO of Yves Saint Laurent. Deneve will be joining Apple as a vice president.

Apple finally reached a deal with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC) to make chips for its products starting in 2014.
Bloomberg reports that Apple is applying a trademark for "iWatch" in Japan, which raises speculation that the tech company is indeed working on a smartwatch. (Update: Apple submitted similar applications in Mexico and Taiwan.)
