Chromebook shipments are expected to increase by two or even three folds in the second half of 2013. This is due to an increase in orders by current Chromebook manufacturers Lenovo, Acer, HP and Samsung, who are also said to be launching new Chromebooks.

Google has recently just announced that next generation Chrome packaged apps can now be downloaded from the Chrome Web Store. Simply put, these are offline apps that give the browser more access to your system's resources, effectively blurring the lines between browser and OS.

Google+ Hangouts now comes with remote desktop, which lets you remotely control someone else's PC during a Hangout chat session. The Hangout Remote Desktop app is built using the same technology found in the Chrome Remote Desktop app.

Google recently announced a new extension (Chrome Office Viewer) for Google Chrome that lets you open Microsoft Office files directly on the web browser. Files are also sandboxed to prevent compromised Microsoft Office files from causing any damage to your computer system.
