Google has further improved Gmail's functionality with the addition of new quick action buttons in your inbox, which allow users to act on certain emails without needing to open them.
Google has announced a version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 that runs stock Android. Priced at US$649, it will be available on the Google Play store on June 26. It's unknown at the moment if this device will be sold in other markets.
Kicking off Google's I/O conference, Google has announced Google Play All Access, a paid subscription streaming music service that looks set to challenge Spotify.

Sundar Pichai has given Wired his first interview ever after taking over Andy Rubin as head of Android. In the interview, Pichai talks briefly about the future of Android and Chrome OS, Facebook Home, Kindle Fire, Samsung and Firefox OS.

According a Q1, 2013 report by Canalys, 59.5 percent of all smart devices in the market -- 308.7 million smartphones, tablets and notebooks -- were running Google's Android operating system. Apple was in second place with a 19.3 percent market share and Microsoft had a market share of 18.1, just slightly behind Apple.
A leaked Google Play Services (v3.1.36) update file contains codes that hint at a new multi-player social gaming network called Google Games. This new gaming network (expected to be revealed during Google I/O) will be similar to Apple's Game Center for iOS and Microsoft's Xbox Live for Xbox, which includes leaderboards, achievements and more.
Facebook Home, Facebook's customized Android launcher app, has not been the overwhelming success CEO Mark Zuckerberg was hoping for. After an initial rush of interest, the app continues to plummet down the Google Play download rankings, showing universal decline in every country.

UPDATE: YouTube paid subscriptions are now live starting at US$0.99/month! Google‘s YouTube subscription plans for specialist video channels could officially be announced as soon as this week, according to a report by ft.com.
