M1 has been appointed as IDA's Home Access program service provider to deliver high-speed fiber broadband to up to 8,000 low-income households. Under the program, eligible households will gain access to M1's 100Mbps fiber broadband service for just S$6 a month.

To provide easier access to fibre broadband for new homes, the IDA has made some changes to the Code of Practice for Info-communication Facilities in Buildings (COPIF), which include the installation of optical fibre points in all new homes. These revisions will take effect from 1 May 2013.

Citibank, DBS, EZ-Link, M1, SingTel, and StarHub, will launch the nation-wide NFC services through a secure, unified, and comprehensive third-party infrastructure managed by Gemalto and supported by IDA.
