Qualcomm & Wilocity Launch Industry's First Tri-band Reference Design Featuring Both 802.11ac and 802.11ad Technology
Qualcomm Incorporated today announced that its subsidiary, Qualcomm Atheros, Inc., and Wilocity launched the industry's first tri-band reference design that combines 802.11ac and 802.11ad wireless capabilities on a single module.

Qualcomm has announced its answers to NVIDIA's next-gen Tegra 4 processor, the quad-core Snapdragon 800 and 600 processors. Both processors will be available in commercial devices by mid-year and Q2 2013 respectively.

According to a report from ABI Research, over 5 billion wireless connectivity chips will ship in 2013. This will include standalone Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, and ZigBee, as well as connectivity combo integrated circuits and platform solutions.
