Intel has named COO Brian Krzanich its next CEO; he'll take over the helm from current CEO Paul Otellini on May 16. Mr. Krzanich, who first joined Intel in 1982, was named COO early last year after having overseen Intel's manufacturing operations.

According to TechEye.net, NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang has been approached by headhunters who were looking to find Intel's next CEO. Although this report warrants some doubt, it is not unthinkable as we reported last month that Intel was seriously considering outside candidates for its top job.

Acting on the recommendation of its Co-Chief Executive Officers, the Board of Directors of BlackBerry maker Research In Motion (RIM) has unanimously named Thorsten Heins as President and Chief Executive Officer. Mike Lazaridis is now Vice Chair of RIM's Board and Chair of the Board's new Innovation Committee, while Jim Balsillie remains a member of the Board.
