AMD has just announced its first ARM-based server processor, codenamed 'Seattle' that will feature ARM Cortex-A57 cores. It will be available initially as an 8-core processor, with a 16-core version to follow later. Volume production of the chip is slated for the second quarter of 2014.

Jon Peddie Research has reported the shipment figures for graphics chips for Q1 of this year. It also tallied the market share figures for major players like Intel, AMD and NVIDIA. While Intel has retained the lion's share, it has slid 5.3 per cent compared to its last quarter.

AMD has unveiled its Radeon HD 8970M mobile graphics chip that is the most powerful from its Radeon HD 8000M stable. The new chip packs twice the number of stream processors as the 8870M graphics chip, and the company claims that it can be up to 54 per cent faster than NVIDIA's GeForce 680M.
