Swedish biometrics firm Fingerprint Cards AB just announced that it is acquired by Samsung Electronics for $650 million in cash. (Update: Fingerprint Cards issued a statement that it is not acquired by Samsung.)
Korean media sources are reporting that the Samsung Galaxy S5 is slated for an official announcement in January 2014 and will hit retail shelves in February.

Looks like smartphones with curved displays are ready for prime time with Samsung officially announcing the Galaxy Round, a smartphone with 5.7-inch full HD Super AMOLED display.
Samsung’s mobile business head of strategy marketing D.J. Lee has revealed that the company is planning to introduce a smartphone with a curved display in South Korea this October. (Update: @evleaks has leaked a couple of press shots.)

There's a rumor that Samsung will be introducing waterproof versions of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, as well as Samsung Galaxy S5. This is likely due to positive feedback and sales numbers of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active.
Samsung has just announced (in Korean) a brand new smartphone camera unit with a 13MP sensor and optical image stabilization (OIS). Not much is known about the new camera module, but the press release claims that the new OIS can correct camera shake up to 1.5°, better than the HTC One's 1°.

AnandTech tested some Android devices and reports that Samsung is not the only phone maker to cheat in benchmarks. Apparently, ASUS, HTC and LG are also involved in tweaking the hardware for better performance when running benchmark apps.

Tech blog Ars Technica reports that Samsung artificially tuned the processor in the Galaxy Note 3 to "high-power CPU mode" when running popular benchmarking apps.

To say that Windows RT has underperformed would be an understatement. Following the discontinuation of the XPS 10, it seems that Dell has joined other tablet makers in ditching Windows RT.
Following the popularity of Apple's gold iPhone 5S, Samsung seems keen to jump in on the 'gold rush', with two gold edition Galaxy S4s appearing on Samsung Middle East's official Facebook page.
