Toshiba Japan has indicated that it will be showcasing the world's thinnest and lightest tablet and Ultrabook at CES 2012. Details are scarce at the moment, but the Japanese company will also be demonstrating a prototype waterproof tablet with a wireless charging feature.
Tablets and smartphones have benefited from Corning's tough and resilient Gorilla Glass displays. It's no surprise that the company will be showcasing an improved version, dubbed Gorilla Glass 2, at CES 2012.
The Aakash, a tablet that costs less than US$50 to build and easy to deploy, has the potential to connect "the next billion" people from third world countries. Just how popular is it? 1.4 million pre-orders in two weeks. Numbers like that haven't been heard of since the iPad 2 launch.
