The Lumia 640 and the 640 XL are powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM. Out of the box, both run Windows Phone 8.1 OS with the Lumia Denim; but they're also upgradeable to Windows 10 when the OS drops later this year.

Microsoft just announced its most affordable Lumia models to date, the Lumia 435 and 532. Both Windows Phone 8.1-powered smartphones are targeted at consumers who are buying smartphones for the first time.

Shots fired at IFA 2014, with Microsoft's VP of Mobile Sales, Chris Weber, calling out Samsung and Apple for "overcharging for a smartphone experience that is clearly inferior to Lumia". Weber's justification for saying so comes in the form of the new Lumia 830 smartphone, which Weber called "an affordable flagship."
"Selfie" was the Oxford English Dictionary's 2013 word of the year. As a consequence of selfie fever, many smartphone manufacturer's are now trying to capture the selfie market with affordable smartphones paired with quality front-facing cameras. Microsoft effort is the Lumia 730/735.

Microsoft Devices Group announced that it will be launching the Lumia 530 in Singapore from August 23 at a retail price of S$159. It comes in a dual-SIM 3G variant and runs on Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Cyan.

Microsoft has released a teaser poster for the unveiling of a new phone(s) on 4th September at IFA 2014 in Berlin this year. The poster includes a not-so-subtly hidden Lumia 1020-style camera module in the text, as well as a mention of 'face time'. Could this be a selfie-orientated Windows Phone?

Microsoft has announced the very first update to Windows Phone 8.1. Is Cortana finally coming to Singapore? Sadly, not yet. But there are other features to look forward to, like folder support on the Start screen.
GSMArena reports that HTC has sent out press invites for a launch event in New York City on August 19. It is likely to launch the One (M8) with Windows Phone 8.1.
