It has been revealed recently that Microsoft is working on unifying its Windows Phone Store and Windows Store into a single store that caters to all devices. The updated store is also said to debut when Windows Phone 8.1 and a special Windows 8.1 update are ready for launch in the second quarter of 2014.

Wacom has introduced two new professional creative tablets which combine the company's professional pen technology with multi-touch gestures. The Cintiq Companion runs Windows 8 and 8 Pro while the Companion Hybrid runs Android 4.2. The two tablets will be available in November.

Acer has just revealed an update to the Acer Aspire R7, a 15-inch convertible notebook with an Ezel Hinge -- a single hinge at the back of the machine that lets you tilt the display in a myriad of different ways. The new model now comes with an Intel fourth generation processor, as well as a bundled active pen (N-trig technology).

Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 8.1 - the first major update to Windows 8 - will RTM (release to manufacturing) at the end of August. Update: Microsoft has just announced today - August 27 - that the OS has been released to manufacturing.

Updated with fix from Ocaholic! HWBot, one of the world's most popular benchmarking and overclocking databases has banned any results from a machine running Windows 8 OS. This is due to a fault in Windows 8′s real-time clock (RTC), which all benchmarking tools use.
