In order to catch up to competitors such as Apple and Amazon, Microsoft has announced the launch of their own digital music service which goes by the name of Xbox Music. Currently available for the Xbox 360, the service will be expanded to smartphones, tablets and PCs with the launch of Windows 8.

Two weeks to the October 26 launch of Windows 8, and we finally have pricing and packaging confirmation from Microsoft. The Windows 8 Pro upgrade DVD costs US$69.99, and an online upgrade costs US$39.99.
In a blog post today, Microsoft announced that the company’s latest version of the Office productivity software suite has reached the Release to Manufacturing stage, and is slated for release in the first quarter of 2013.

Today, Samsung revealed an extensive range of Windows 8 consumer devices that include an All-in-One PC, a touchscreen notebook, and two touchscreen convertible tablets.
HP has unveiled the HP ElitePad 900 that is a Windows 8-based 10.1-inch tablet aimed at the business-minded users with enterprise computing requirements. The tablet will be available in Singapore in late January 2013; however, its retail price has yet to be confirmed.

Too cool for Windows 8? Minecraft game creator Markus "Notch" Persson tweeted that he is not interested in certifying the game for Windows 8. He declined Microsoft's request for Windows 8 certification and he even hit out at the Redmond company by saying he would forgo Windows 8 than to play along.
