Skype announces the global availability of Skype for Android using either a WiFi or mobile data connection (GPRS, EDGE, 3G). The application is available for download from the Skype mobile browser or via the Android Market.

Huawei unveiles the IDEOS smartphone for the first time in Singapore. The new smartphone, which is the world's first mass market smartphone to be powered by Android 2.2, redefines the "Android for all" concept by combining full feature performance with high-quality hardware and software at a very competitive price.
It would seem that Google has finally brought paid apps to Singapore and 12 other countries though it seems access hasn't yet been enabled.

LG Electronics announced the launch of two smarphones in their Optimus lineup, the LG Optimus One and LG Optimus Chic. Both phones come powered with Android 2.2.

Google recently perked up their Voice Search feature on Android 2.2, now with a grand total of 12 voice commands in all. Another newly introduced application is the Chrome-to-Phone app, where users on the Chrome browser can send web pages or maps to their Android 2.2 phones.

Google were compelled to hit that remote "kill switch" recently on two free applications. The two apps were intentionally misrepresented by a security researcher in order to encourage user downloads from the Android Market, although they weren't outrightly malicious according to a security specialist with Google's Android team.

Flash will be coming for Android, but only if you have the latest version, codenamed "FroYo." A public version of the new Flash 10.1 software is being made available for FroYo today, but FroYo is still in development in Google and a release date hasn't been announced yet.
