Dell has announced that it will quit the smartphone business and that it will focus its mobile efforts instead on tablets running Windows 8 and Windows RT.
It's been only a couple of weeks since the alleged Sony Xpera 'Odin' emerged on the web and there are already new leaks and rumors about another 5-inch Xperia 'phablet', the Xperia 'Yuga'. These devices have not been officially revealed by the company and by the looks of it, they might just very well be the same product due to the alarming similarities that they share.

Yahoo has just released a completely redesigned Yahoo Mail, which places heavy emphasis on speed and efficiency. Yahoo updated the existing web client and Android app with the new design, while introducing new apps for the iPhone and Windows 8 platform.

The update to Twitter's iPhone and Android applications will enable users to edit photos in new ways, such as adding filters, photo frames, as well as an auto-enhance capability to its image sharing feature.
Instagram 3.2 for iOS brings several improvements to the app's look and speed. For example, it sports an all-new camera design and a new Willow filter. Instagram for Android is also updated.

Acquired by Google in September, Snapseed, a popular photo-editing app, is now finally available for download on Google Play for free. Likewise, the iOS version of the app is also free for now (originally US$4.99), but has also been updated to include Google+ integration and some new filters.

Samsung is currently seeding the Android 4.1.2 update, which includes the Multi-View multi-tasking feature, over-the-air for its popular S III device, with Poland being the first country to receive it.
The Android app for Dropbox gets updated to version 2.2.2, which includes the ability to manage your files in addition to the usual bug fixes and performance boost.

Android users can now simply key in their name and phone numbers to use Facebook's updated messenger app. They're no longer required to log in with a Facebook account, which means users without Facebook accounts are also able sign up for the free messaging service.
The Google I/O 2013 event is scheduled to take place from May 15th to May 17th in San Francisco, with registration set to open early next year.
