Acer has just revealed an update to the Acer Aspire R7, a 15-inch convertible notebook with an Ezel Hinge -- a single hinge at the back of the machine that lets you tilt the display in a myriad of different ways. The new model now comes with an Intel fourth generation processor, as well as a bundled active pen (N-trig technology).

Acer President, Jim Wang stated that the company will be offering less Microsoft products, while producing more Android products, as well as Chromebooks. This comes as the company posted a significant second quarter loss due to lower sales and rising expenses.

Chromebook shipments are expected to increase by two or even three folds in the second half of 2013. This is due to an increase in orders by current Chromebook manufacturers Lenovo, Acer, HP and Samsung, who are also said to be launching new Chromebooks.

Microsoft has announced that Outlook 2013 RT will be coming to Windows RT devices through the upcoming Windows 8.1 update. And the Acer Iconia W3, the world's first 8-inch Windows 8 tablet, will come pre-installed with Office Home & Student 2013.

Acer announced the Liquid S1, a 5.7-inch smartphone which is powered by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and a quad-core 1.5GHz processor.
Acer today announced the world's first 8-inch Windows 8 tablet, the Iconia W3. It comes in two storage capacities (32 and 64GB).

A total of three Chromebooks from Acer, HP and Samsung have now been introduced to Singapore. These notebooks will be available in Courts retail stores across the island. The most affordable Chromebook would be the Acer C7 which retails at S$369.
