Intel will release a microcode patch that will block the CPU overclocking capabilities of non-Z87 motherboards. This is in response to motherboard manufacturers, who have offered unofficial overclocking support for unlocked 4th generation Intel Core processors on their H87, B85 and H81 boards.

Biostar has announced support for overclocking of 4th generation Intel Core K-series processors, on its entire Intel 8-series motherboards. This includes boards that feature the H87, B85 and H81 chipsets.

ASRock has announced its new Non-Z OC feature that will allow owners of H87 and B85 boards, the option of overclocking their unlocked 4th generation Intel Core processors. The H87 and B85 boards don't have official support for CPU overclocking.
