Microsoft Confirms Windows 8.1 Will Be a Free Upgrade
At JP Morgan's Technology, Media & Telecom Conference, Microsoft's Windows Division CMO and CFO, Tami Reller, confirmed that the upcoming Windows 8 update, previously codenamed Windows Blue, has now been given the official release name Windows 8.1, and will be a free upgrade for all Windows 8 users.

Windows 8 Licenses Surpass 100 Million; Windows Blue Public Preview in June
Despite controversy surrounding the uptake of Windows 8, Microsoft has revealed that more than 100 million Windows 8 licenses have now been sold. And the next update for the OS, codenamed Windows Blue, will see a public preview in June at the BUILD conference.

Windows Blue Update Will be Named Windows 8.1
According to ZDNet, Windows Blue will be officially named as Windows 8.1. As we have reported in August last year, the Redmond software giant has alleged plans in the pipeline to speed up the release cycle of their new Windows operating system. This development is in line with its decision.
