The Straits Times will be launching its new Straits Times app for Android tablets on Google Play Store from tomorrow, 18 July. The new app will come with a 7-day archive and push notifications, with readers having access to full print content.

Microsoft has released Office Mobile for the iPhone. Compatible with iPhone 4, 4S, and 5, as well as iPod Touch 5th gen, the Microsoft Office Mobile allows you to access, view, and edit your Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents from anywhere.

Google+ Hangouts now comes with remote desktop, which lets you remotely control someone else's PC during a Hangout chat session. The Hangout Remote Desktop app is built using the same technology found in the Chrome Remote Desktop app.

Twitter has recently confirmed that it will be closing TweetDeck mobile apps on May 7. TweetDeck apps for Android, iOS and Adobe AIR will be removed from their app stores and will cease to function. TweetDeck for web and Chrome however will still be kept alive, and will be updated weekly.

Professional network LinkedIn has recently confirmed its acquisition of 3-year-old news reading app, Pulse Newsreader, for about US$90 Million. 90% of deal was settled with LinkedIn stock, while 10% was in cash.
