AMD has announced the immediate availability of two new Opteron 6300 series processors. They are the 12-core 6338P and the 16-core 6370P chips, based on the Piledriver 32nm microarchitecture. According to AMD, these Socket G34 chips are optimized to deliver improved performance per-watt for hardware virtualization.
Evolving from the 20nm-based Vertex 450, the new Vertex 460 uses the company's proprietary Barefoot 3 (BF3) M10 controller with Toshiba's 19nm MLC NAND flash memory, and are rated to deliver 20GB of host writes per day for a 3-year warranty.
