Zynga's Chief Creative Officer Leaves to Start Own Game Company

Zyngas’s Chief Creative Officer, Mike Verdu, has just confirmed that he is leaving Zynga to start his own gaming outfit which will focus on games for mobile platforms.

As Chief Creative Officer, Mike oversaw Zynga’s various game studios and also managed the company’s creative process. And although his departure follows closely a handful of other exits - most prominently, Chief Operating Officer John Schappert - Mike insists that the split was amicable.

Mike goes on to say that Zynga will be one of his company’s investors and that Zynga will publish his games on its third-party platform. He explains that his company will focus on mobile games, which is one of Zynga’s weak points, as the company has thus far struggled to adapt games for mobile devices - which relies on swiping and touch, rather than a mouse. He also says that he will continue to work closely with Zynga.
