ZTE Grand S to be Thinnest 5-inch 1080p Phone at 6.9mm
ZTE confirmed two weeks ago that it will be launching its 5-inch Grand S flagship model at the upcoming CES 2013, but little details are known about the device until today.
Contrary to earlier speculation of the device having a 7.6mm thin profile, the Grand S actually boasts an ultra thin 6.9mm side profile which makes the thinnest 5-inch 1080p phone in the world. It is even more impressive if you take into consideration its specs sheet, some of which are not officially confirmed yet:
- 5-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels
- 13-megapixel rear camera
- Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 quad-core 1.5GHz processor
- 2GB RAM
- 2500mAh battery
The ZTE Grand S can hold its own against the 5-inch competition. For example, the HTC Butterfly has a side profile of 9.08mm, an 8-megapixel rear camera and a smaller battery capacity at 2020mAh. The upcoming Sony Xperia Yuga (otherwise known as Xperia Z) is reported to come with 3GB RAM, a Samsung Exynos 5 Quad processor, and a 3,300mAh battery.
ZTE also launched its first 1080p smartphone yesterday. Known as the Nubia Z5, the device has a 5-inch IPS display and runs on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. Other specs include NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, 13-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front facing camera, a quad-core 1.5GHz processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage and a 3,000mAh battery. The Nubia Z5 will be available in China from January 2013.
