Your Instagram photos will now look sharper and prettier

Instagram has quietly changed the way it is saving users' photos.

Arguably the most popular dedicated photo sharing app, Instagram can count on over 150 million users. But for the longest time, it only saved users' photos at a dreadful 640 x 640 pixels resolution.

Fortunately, Instagram has now changed that. A look at the page source on Instagram's web view suggests that photos are now being saved at a resolution of 1024 x 1024 pixels. If you do the math, that's over 2.5 times as many pixels.

Instagram has also confirmed this and said that these larger images will be rolled out for iOS and Android users gradually.

As for desktop users, we are afraid Instagram has no plans to roll out larger photos there yet as the company said that it is focused on mobile and has no plans to share on web.
