You can now hail an Uber ride within Google Maps

The latest Google Maps app update allows a complete Uber booking, without leaving Google Maps at all.

If you’re a frequent Uber user who always checks for the best route before embarking on your journey, you’d be pleased to know that Google just made life a tad easier for you.

Google Maps app will now include deeper integration with Uber by enabling car-hailing bookings within Google Maps itself. The improved features will start rolling out today.

The current version provides information, but a booking must be completed in the respective hailing app.

Previously, users can only check the trip fares and possible routes from Google Maps, but they will have to proceed to the Uber app to start and confirm the ride. Google said that the new update enables the whole process without leaving the Google Maps app at all. The details and payment will rely on your Uber account information.

Improved feature aside, the Google Maps app also adopts a new look for checking up on private-car hailing services. For the U.S., that means other private car-hailing apps like Lyft. Google is also working on other features along the same vein, such as bookings for hotels and restaurants.
