Yamaha Digital Sound Projector YSP-4300 Now Available

Yamaha Music (Asia) has announced that the company's latest and most powerful member of its sound bar series, the Digital Sound Projector YSP-4300, is now available in Singapore with a price tag of S$2,799.

We had our first encounter with the YSP-4300 at last September's IFA tradeshow, and then again at the International Sound & Sight Exhibition 2012 held in Singapore two months later. In a nutshell, together with a wireless active subwoofer (NS-WSW160, 130W peak), this one-piece sound bar is capable of producing real multi-channel surround sound.

This is made possible by the use of sounds beams bouncing off the walls to create a discrete '5 beam + 2' surround effect for 7-channel sources. In other words, with the subwoofer, what you're hearing is true 7.1-channel surround sound, instead of virtual surround sound. The YSP-CU4300 center unit (which is the sound bar itself) incorporates as many as 22-array speaker drivers and two powerful woofers within.

In addition, the YSP-4300 has an FM tuner with 40 preset station memories and a built-in USB port that allows users to directly connect it to their iPod/iPhone/iPad and other USB devices. Other features include HDMI (4 in/1 out) with 4K pass-through, 3D, and CEC support, and an InstaPort technology that lets users switch between HDMI sources quickly.

With the optional Yamaha YIT-W12 AirWired transmitter that retails for S$129, users can wirelessly stream music from their iPod/iPhone/iPad and Mac/PC sources (the latter require the included USB cable). For audiophiles, the good news is that this AirWired link supports uncompressed linear PCM for high-quality audio transmission.
